Olympiad! Coming Soon (August 30 2021)
Hello everyone,
Today, our club Team Sai Pavan is gonna host an event that will fill this club with memories, stories of incredibility, determination, and grit. It is the Team Sai Pavan Chess Olympiad. Let's go over our 2 experts Raj and Abhi and they will tell us more on this. Raj: The biggest question and the 1st you guys are gonna ask is "What is an Olympiad in chess". So,
The Chess Olympiad is a biennial chess tournament in which teams are representing nations of the world compete. FIDE organizes the tournament and selects the host nations...The use of the word "Chess Olympiad for FIDE's team championship is of historical origin and implies no connection with the Olympic Games.
In other words, it is like a team chess game,
Abhi: Don't get confused with vote chess
It's a 2v2 or 4v4 where all players play standard live chess of either blitz or rapid time control.
For example
Let's say Raj is in team one
And Shradheyan(Hehe I'm here) and Adam(Stfu) in the other. I play 2 games against Shradheyan and Adam and Raj does the same
Whichever team scores higher they win
Like this, there will be several teams who will compete for glory
Raj: There will be 6 teams
2 players playing for each team at one point and each team can or cannot have 2 subs(Substitute)
Matches will occur every day except for the rest days there is also going to be a captain
Abhi: Captain's duties:
1)He/She needs to help the players-i.e give them tips, etc
2) He/She needs to up the team spirit
The team also need to make its own motto
Since this will be conducted in a 6 team format, the top 3 teams qualify for knockouts
The 6 teams are:
1) Bishop Brigade
2) Shiny Superstars (Sai)
3) Sly Vikings
4) Drakon Masterminds (Shradheyan)
5)Flashy Fireballs
6) Swirly Ghosts
Raj: Good work there Abhi, you listed it correctly after saying it wrong 17 times (lol)
Abhi: Bruh
Raj: Anyway, let's look at how the points are calculated
A win over another team=2pts
A tie with another team=1pt
Only if it is a knockout match, then there will be a tiebreak
Loss=0
There is also one point for the most interesting, entertaining, fantastic and game of the day
So, the maximum you can win from the game is 3 points
Nervous Abhi: If you wanna apply, follow the steps
1)Tell it in the comments
2) The comments should contain which team you want to be in
3) It MUST have the following pledge:
'I hereby participate in the TSP leg
I will play fairly and follow the sportsmanship,
I will give my best for [Insert team name]
I request my team to do the same
Abhi: Ok, so let's move on, each team will play 7 rapid (10|0) matches and 7 blitz matches (5|0). The format is double round-robin. So each team has to play 1 rapid match and 1 blitz against each other.
4 games for each match. 1 white and black against one opponent and the same against the other.
Raj: You might be asking, what do we get for all of this ??

Awards: 1st place: 20 trophies for each member and an e-certificate(not confirmed)+2 ebooks links(maybe not)
2nd place: 17 trophies for each member and an e-certificate+2ebooks links
3rd place: 15 trophies for each member and an e-certifiacte+1ebook link
We also have weekly awards
And there will be awards like top performances, performers, etc
If your name gets listed about 4 times, you get 4 trophies
1=1 trophy
