Peng And Van Kampen Win Max Euwe Memorial

Max Euwe1 cropped.jpgThe 2011 Max Euwe Memorial in Amsterdam (previewed here), has finished, and Zhaoqin Peng won Group 1, while Robin Van Kampen took the honours in Group 2.

Grandmaster Jan Timman opened the event with a 24-game simultaneous exhibition at the Amsterdam Central Public Library, winning 19, drawing 1, and losing 4 games.

The chairman of the Maastricht Chess Club MSV-VSM, Jos Uiterwijk, also gave a lecture on developments in computer chess since Max Euwe helped found the Computer Chess Federation of the Netherlands (CSVN) in 1980.
