14 year-old US International Master Ray Robson (pictured) from Florida has earned his first Grandmaster norm by tying for first place in the Arctic Chess Challenge in Norway.

Congratulations to Ray - only 2 more to go for the GM title!

GM Monika Socko of Poland won the tournament by virtue of having the best tie-break score.

One of the most spectacular games of the tournament was Robson's win against GM Allan Rasmussen in round six -see below (H/T Mig @ Daily Dirt).  Robson sacrificed a piece to render his opponent almost completely immobile!
