Reggio Emilia 2011/12
The 54th Reggio Emilia tournament is underway in Italy, running from 27 December 2011 - 6 January 2012.
The main event is a 6-player double round-robin competition with a strong and entertaining line-up headed by Vassily Ivanchuk.
The time control is the slightly unusual 50 moves in 100 minutes with a 30 second increment per move. There is one rest day on 1 January. Games start at 15:00 local time (14:00 UTC), and live coverage is available at the official website here.
Also taking part are Hikaru Nakamura, an in-form Alexander Morozevich, Nikita Vitiugov, and young stars Anish Giri and Fabianio Caruana.
Alexander Morozevich was a late replacement for Vugar Gashimov, but has fully justified his inclusion by winning his first two games to hold the sole lead.
