'Rising Stars' start well against 'Experience' team

It was a bad start for the 'Experience' team in the NH Chess Tournament in Amsterdam.  Despite all the oldies having White in the first round, they only managed 2 draws and lost the other 3 games.

The youngest player, Italy's 16 year old Fabiano Caruana (pictured) had a nice win against Artur Jussupow, spotting both 19...Rxh2 and 28...g4+ in a tactically alert display.

Viktor Korchnoi lost on time against Daniel Stellwagen of the Netherlands, but his position was lost in any case after a sharp opening turned sour.

Wang Yue pressed hard in the longest game of the day against Ljubomir Ljubojevic and eventually won though, but only after a determined rearguard action by the veteran Serbian GM.

For the 'Rising Stars' team, there is a special prize for the highest score achieved - an invitation to the glamorous Amber Rapid and Blindfold Tournament in Nice next year.
