Carlsen caught by Alekseev

Another two decisive results in round 4 at Biel, but neither to the benefit of Carlsen, who was held by Onsichuk today despite his best efforts to take the full point.

Alekseev (pictured) took full advantage by beating the tournament underdog, Pelletier to catch Carlsen on 3/4 for a share of the lead.  Pelletier lost a pawn on move 25 and Alekseev made sure there was no escape after that.

Dominguez was the other winner in the round, leaving poor Bacrot in joint last place with Pelletier on a meagre 0.5/4.  The two will face each other tomorrow in a battle to avoid last place.

The results in round 4:

Dominguez Perez, Leinier - Bacrot, Etienne 1-0 49 C88 Ruy Lopez Closed
