The match was split between a men's match and a women's match, both over five boards. For Russia Malakhov, Tomashevsky, Vitiugov, Nepomniachtchi, Timofeev, the Kosintseva sisters, Tairova, Romanko and Gunina played; the Chinese came to Dagomys with Wang Yue, Bu Xiangzhi, Ni Hua, Zhou Jianchao, Ding Liren, Ju Wenjun, Huang Qian, Xu Yuhua, Shen Yang and Zhao Xue.In the classical time control the Russian men beat their Chinese opponents 13 to 12, and in the rapid and blitz the margins were even bigger: 29 to 21 (rapid) and 30 to 20 (blitz).
