Russia Win European Seniors Championships
The 2012 European Senior Teams Chess Championship were held from 26 March to 5 April in Rogaska Slatina, Slovenia.
The competition attracted 46 teams from around Europe, with teams representing national federations or a regional structure of a national federation.
Each team consisted of four players, with a board 4 reserve allowed. According to the rules 'Senior' means men who will be at least 60 by the end of 2012 (50 for women).
The Championship was a 9 rounds team Swiss with a time control of 40 moves in 90 minutes, then 30 minutes to a finish with a 30 second increment.

he prize for the best performance on board 1 went to the indefatigable 81-year old Viktor Korchnoi who achieved a 7½/9 personal score.
