Sergey Volkov Wins Rilton Cup

The 40th Rilton Cup took place in Stockholm, Sweden from 27 December - 5 January.

The competition was a 9-round Swiss event with several GMs in attendance, including top seed Arkadij Naiditsch of Germany.

However, it was the Russian Sergey Volkov (pictured) who took the clear first place with an excellent 8/9 score, half a point ahead of his compatriot Aleksandr Shimanov and another full point clear of the rest of the 70-strong field.
