Short Wins Bangkok Chess Club Open
It wasn't quite the "crème de la crème" of the chess world, but English GM Nigel Short dominated the Bangkok Chess Club Open, finishing a full point ahead of the field with a score of 8/9 points.
The other leading players in the Open competition failed to live up to their ratings; GM Jan Gustafsson scored 6½/9 and women's world champion GM Hou Yifan could only manage 6/9 against a relatively weak field.
Congratulations to Vietnamese IM Nguyen Duc Hoa, who earned a GM norm for his 7/9 score.
