Smirin wins Maalot-Tarshiha

Ilia Smirin has won the strong tournament that was held 7-15 January in Maalot-Tarshiha (Israel). He ended shared first with Evgeny Postny, but had a better tiebreak, after Postny lost to Khenkin in the last round.

Here are three victories with Black by the winner. Smirin is an expert in the King's Indian and apparently he also has his own ideas about the Polugaevsky Variation of the Najdorf, because according to current theory this line is slightly dubious...
