The Young Grandmasters Tournament at the Biel Chess Festival has started with wins for Wesley So of the Philippines (pictured) and Maxim Roshstein of Israel.
So's victory came with the black pieces against England's David Howell, while Roshstein's victim was Parimarjan Negi from India.
The 10-player round-robin tournament runs until 28 July, with the full pairings for each day available here.
