Spanish Team Championships 2011
The Spanish Team Chess Championships ran from 21-26 November in Melilla, Spain and team Gros Xake Taldea (GXT) from San Sebastián took the title in the Division Honor.
The competition was a 7-team round robin event, with six players on each team, and GXT won despite suffering their first and only loss in the last round to Naturgas Energia Sestao by a score of 3½-2½.
The international team competing for GXT included such luminaries as Ruslan Ponomariov, Alexei Shirov, Etienne Bacrot, Loek Van Wely and Rustam Kasimdzhanov.
