This year, despite the beautiful weather no less than 143 chess players had gathered for the Open Utrecht Championship, held June 6-8 at the National Mind Games Center Den Hommel in Utrecht.

The tournament, sponsored by Adviesbureau Schrijvers and Wout van Veen Advocaten, was won by GM Friso Nijboer who stayed ahead of GMs Ikonnikov, Kritz and Epishin and IMs Pruijssers and Swinkels.
