It's January again, so all roads for the top GMs lead to a small seaside resort in the Netherlands for the traditional start to the new year in top flight chess.

The Tata Steel Tournament (formerly Corus) runs from 14-30 January in Wijk Aan Zee and as usual is divided into three groups of 14 players each.

The A Group is headed by the top four players in the world on the most recent rating list i.e. Magnus Carlsen, Vishy Anand, Lev Aronian and Vladimir Kramnik.

Hikaru Nakamura will be hoping to make a splash in Wijk, and the new "escapees" from the junior rankings, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and Ian Nepomniachtchi will also want to make a good impression.
