Hans Tikkanen by Calle Erlandsson.jpgThe short single round-robin Sigeman tournament ended in a three-way tie for first place between Anish Giri, Hans Tikkanen (pictured) and Wesley So.

Tikkanen and Giri had an genuine final round clash in a Grunfeld, but neither player could tip the balance to claim first place outright.

Wesley So joined the tie for first place by beating Jonny Hector with the black pieces in the final round.  Hector was overambitious against So's French Defence and the tables were turned in an exciting game.  So's king ended up safe and sound on f2!

Alexei Shirov finished with a draw against Nils Grandelius to come a disappointing fourth place.

The final standings:

 Giri, Anish   NED  2690 * ½ ½ ½ 1 ½ 3
