Major upsets in Khanty-Mansiysk: the two highest-seeds Peter Svidler and Levon Aronian have both just been eliminated in the rapids. A very solid Dmitry Jakovenko proved too strong for Levon Aronian in this 4th round tiebreak of the World Cup. He won the first rapid game with White, and held a rook ending with Black without much trouble. Svidler had drawn his first rapid game with Black, and got a very nice position with White. After some exchanges of pieces he suddenly blundered away his passed d-pawn his d-pawn suddenly turned out to be very weak and couldn't be saved. From then Kamsky had no mercy. Alekseev beat Bareev 2-0 and so no blitz games were needed today.
