Vachier-Lagrave Wins 6th Gyorgy Marx Memorial

Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (pictured) is currently the second highest ranked French player at 2681 Elo, just 10 points behind Etienne Bacrot.  There have been so many high-quality chess events taking place recently that Maxime's win at the 6th Gyorgy Marx Memorial tournament in Hungary has been somewhat under-reported.

Maxime is a chess prodigy, attaining the Grandmaster title at the tender age of 14 years and 4 months - currently the 9th youngest person to do so.  He will be 18 in October and is now ranked 39th in the world and still rising ( his unoffical 'live rating' is currently 2702).

We are likely to see a lot more of Maxime in the future at strong chess events.
