GM Vladimir Fedoseev won the Titled Tuesday blitz tournament on February 23, his second victory in the series so far. The Russian grandmaster edged out GM Jeffery Xiong on tiebreak after both had finished on 10/11.

This week's Titled Tuesday tournament had a total of 740 participants. It was an 11-round Swiss with a 3+1 time control. Fedoseev had initially won on June 16, 2020, and eight months later he won for the second time.

Fedoseev had a good run right from the start. He was the only player to start with 8/8, and that included a win against the eventual runner-up, Xiong. While trying to prepare for Black's pawn attack on the kingside, Xiong's queen got trapped in the enemy camp:

After an exciting draw with GM Daniel Naroditsky, Fedoseev took down another young star: GM Alireza Firouzja. The Iranian grandmaster missed one tactic, and it was all over.

Fedoseev finished with a hard-fought draw against last week's winner GM Vladislav Artemiev. This was a most thrilling affair where Artemiev missed a mate in two and a chance to tie for first. As Xiong would have won the tournament in that case, this error cost Artemiev $400.
