Wang Hao Extends Lead In Biel
Wang Hao has extended his lead at the Biel GM Tournament by winning his fourth game of the tournament against Victor Bologan.
With the 'Bilbao' scoring system being used wins count for 3 points so Wang has a commanding total of 12 points, 4 points clear of Hikaru Nakamura and Anish Giri in second place.
Nakamura also won his round 5 game against Etienne Bacrot, with Anish Giri drawing a hard-fought game with Magnus Carlsen.
The standings are complicated by the withdrawal of Alexander Morozevich after 2 losses and his replacement with Victor Bologan. With Morozevich's games still counting, a lot depends on whether Carlsen can pick up three points in his postponed clash with Bologan on Sunday.
The standing after five rounds:
Name | Nat | Elo | Games | Pts |
Wang Hao | CHN | 2739 | 5 | 12 |
Hikaru Nakamura | USA | 2778 | 5 | 8 |
