Wang Yue Wins Chinese Championship
Top seed Wang Yue was a convincing winner of the 2013 Chinese Individual Chess Championships with a score of 7½/11. He secured first place with a round to spare, and the winning margin was an impressive 1½ points despite a loss in the last round.
The contest had been close in the first half of the competition, with Wang Yue losing in the very first round. However, he finished with a strong second half to take the title.
The women's championship was won by Ding Yixin with 8/11 in a much tighter contest. Her two nearest rivals, Guo Qi and Shen Yang were half a point behind.
Former women's world champion Hou Yifan placed a respectable fourth in the main competition, and 13 year-old GM-elect Wei Yi also performed well, finishing sixth.
The competition took place took place in Xinghua, Jiangsu from 16-27 April. The time control was 90 minutes for the whole game plus a 30 second increment.
