A big bunch of world class players joined again this weekend San Sebastian, Spain. It was the second and last weekend to determine which four teams would qualify for the play-offs of the Spanish team championship. The two andalusian clubs Intel-Tiendas Upi and Reverte Albox-Unicaja had already qualified last week and this weekend C.A. Linex Magic and C.A. Ajoblanco Cuna de Dragones joint them.

The fifth and last round of the Divisi?ɬ?n de Honor del Campeonato de Espa?ɬ±a por Equipos de Clubes 2006 was as thrilling as can be. It was only during the last games where it finally became clear which four teams may play for the national title.

Local stars Gros Xake Taldea, with amongst others Van Wely, Gelfand, Zhang Penxiang and Smirin, not only had to beat Linex Magic (with e.g. Aronian, Morozevich, Ponomariov, Shirov, Karjakin, Sargissian and Rublevsky!), but also with some high figueres because they lacked enough board points. They did win but only with 3,5-2,5 so now they are kicked out, despite losing not a single match. Big rival Cuna de Dragones-Ajoblanco (e.g. Svider, Adams, Mamedyarov, Jakovenko and Werle) did what they had to do which was beating AMD-Cofim?ɬ°n (e.g. Tiviakov, Motylev, Kempinski, Cramling) with no less than 5-1.
