The World Youth Chess Championships took place in the city of Vung Tau, Vietnam from 20-30 October.  This huge event included individual and team championships for the age groups of under 18's, under 16's, under 14's, under 12's, under 10's and under 8's.

Although many nationalities were represented it was the Indian contingent who dominated the overall medal table, obtaining 8 team gold medals and 4 individual gold medals.
