XIV International Chess Open De Sants
The 2012 Sants Open is underway in Barcelona, Spain.
The A Group competition is a 10-round Swiss event from 17-26 August with over 300 players taking part, including 18 GMs and 39 IMs. The top seeds are Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu, Grzegorz Gajewski, Kevin Spraggett, Aleksandr Rakhmanov and Sam Shankland.
Games start every day at 16:30 local time (14:30 UTC) except the final round which kicks off very early at 09:30!
The time control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 minutes to finish plus a 30 second increment from the start. The winner will receive €2,500.
