The 25th Cappelle la Grande Chess Open recently took place in France and was won by the Ukrainian Yuri Vovk (picture from the official site) with an impressive score of 7.5/9.

Cappelle la Grande is a huge event, and this year there were an amazing 611 players taking part in the Open!  It was a deserved victory for Vovk, who led for most of the event.

A vital win for Vovk came in round 7 with the black pieces against Manuel Leon Hoyos of Mexico in a very instructive rook ending.
