Stefanova Wins Women's World Rapid Championship

Antoaneta Stefanova has won the the 2012 Women’s World Rapid Championship.  The competition was an 11-round Swiss at 25 minutes plus 10 second increment which took place from 30 May - 3 June in Batumi, Georgia.

Former women's world champion Stefanova finished with 8½/11, just claiming first place ahead of Kateryna Lahno, Humpy Koneru and another former world champion Alexandra Kosteniuk.

The Women's World Blitz Championship will now follow in Batumi on 4-5 June as a 15-round Swiss at 4 minutes plus 2 second increment.  Live coverage and more at the official website.
