Danish Gambit
In the Danish Gambit White sacrifices one or even two pawns right away in order to gain a development advantage and open lines. The opening was used frequently in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, but since then good defenses have been found and the opening is very rare nowadays.

- Black has one or two extra pawns
- Many good defenses
- Black can decline the gambit and equalize immediately
