GM Viktorija Cmilyte

Viktorija Cmilyte-Nielsen is a Lithuanian grandmaster and politician. She is currently the top player in her country (as of February 2021).  Cmilyte-Nielsen won the European Youth Chess Championship in the U12 Girls category in 1993 and the Girls U12 World Youth Chess Championship in 1995.

Cmilyte-Nielsen won both the women's and absolute Lithuanian Chess Championship titles in 2000. In 2007 she came in first at the European Women's Rapid Championship and three years later earned her grandmaster title. A year later, she won the European Women's Individual Championship.

Cmilyte-Nielsen is married to GM Peter Heine Nielsen. Since November 2020, she is the speaker of the Seimas, the parliament of Lithuania.
