Alex Yermolinsky (also known as "Yermo" or "Uncle Yermo") is a Russian-born American grandmaster. His initial big success came when he tied for first in the 1985 Leningrad City Championship. He later won the U.S. Chess Championship in 1993 and 1996 and the World Open in Philadelphia in 1993, 1995, and 1996.

Yermolinsky became a U.S. Hall of Fame Inductee in 2012. He reached his peak FIDE rating of 2574 in 2005 and peak USCF rating of 2751 in 1993.
