Gennadi (Genna) Sosonko is a Soviet-born Dutch grandmaster and chess author. He was two-time Dutch chess champion, two-time winner at Wijk aan Zee, and the individual gold medalist on board two at the 1976 Chess Olympiad. His writings include books about his experiences with world champions as well as with GM David Bronstein and GM Viktor Korchnoi.

There is a Sosonko Variation in the Benko Gambit (1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 b5 4.a4) and Dragon Sicilian (1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6 6.Be3 Bg7 7.f3 O-O 8.Qd2 Nc6 9.Bc4 Nd7).
