Bio

George Koltanowski was a Belgian-American grandmaster and writer. Koltanowski won the Belgium championship four times (1923, 1927, 1930, and 1936). Koltanowski notably made a living off of chess by organizing tournaments and popularizing the Swiss system in the United States, writing chess books, and giving blindfold and simultaneous exhibitions.

Koltanowski set the world's blindfold record in 1937 by playing 34 blindfold chess games simultaneously. He is also known for helping to develop the theory of the Colle System.
