IM Gunay Mammadzada

Gunay Mammadzada is an Azerbaijani international master and two-time national champion. She won the Azerbaijani Chess Championship in 2017 and 2019 following an impressive youth career. After winning the Girls U10 Youth World Championship in 2009, she won the 2013 Girls U14 European Youth Chess Championship.

In April 2018, Mammadzada became ranked among the top-five girls (under 20) in the world, and stayed in that classification until December 2020, when she no longer qualified. She first entered the top-30 women's rankings as a 19-year-old in December 2019. She's the highest-rated female Azerbaijani woman (as of February 2021).
