Aug 6, 1983 (age 35)
Place of birth
Šiauliai, Lithuanian SSR, USSR

One of the best players in all of Lithuania and now one of the top 10 elite female players in the world, Victorija Cmilyte has accomplished much in her career. She has won multiple girls age championships in her youth and followed that up with winning both the Women’s AND Men’s Lithuanian Championships in the same year! Now that she is one of the few females with the full Grandmaster title, she is putting it to good use and has a lot going for her in the near future.

Victorija Cmilyte started to play chess when she was 6 years old after learning the game from her father in Lithuania. At an early age she won the U-10 and U-12 Girls European Junior Championships as well as the World Girls U-12 Championship. She became a Woman International Master in 1998 and a Woman Grandmaster in 1999. In 2000 she made a very noteworthy accomplishment by winning the Women’s Lithuanian Championship followed by winning the Men’s Lithuanian Championship ahead of 5 Grandmasters in the same year, when she was only 16 years old! By 2001, she was ranked as the best FIDE rated girl and had gotten the full International Master title. It wasn’t until 2010 that she became a full Grandmaster. This happened because of the three norms that she won in Gibraltar (2008), Novi Sad (2009) and Rijeka (2010). She is currently ranked as the fourth best player in all of Lithuania and the 10th best female player in the world. She is also married to Danish Grandmaster Peter Heine Nielsen.
