IM IA I publish my books myself. My ambition is for them to be the best and have the most beautiful covers. https://witalis-sapis.com/en/homepage/ When creating a new book, I decided to change the cover of "Master Strategy" so that all the covers would have musical and chess motifs. The cover of "Master Strategy" is a reference to Taylor Swift. Her album "Folklore" and music videos for "Cardigan" and "Willow". Most people probably know Taylor as a celebrity and singer, but in my opinion she is one of the most interesting personalities of our times. The cover of "Game Techniques" is a reference to Cat Stevens' album "Tea for the Tillerman". And the cover of "Master Strategy in Endings" refers to Genesis' album "Foxtrot". The references are sometimes close ("Game Techniques"), and...

I was 4. My father came to me, bent down, looked deep into my eyes, gave me a toy gun (my first one), and told me, “You’re a big boy now; take care of our family.” I didn’t see him for two years. He left for the war. I was six when he returned. (I didn’t recognize him initially due to his beard)He was surprised to see I knew how to play chess. My Grandma had taught me. Long story short, he took me to a chess school. I got badly beaten in my first game, got angry, and started to train… Long story even shorter, I became a Grandmaster at 19. Then crossed 2,600. Then got very close to breaking into the top 100 players in the world. But then… I fell in love. Not with a person. I fell in love with chess coaching. I began assisting and instructing other passionate chess players. When...

I’m a 24 years old university student, currently finishing my teaching degree in English and its Literatures at Universidade Federal do Ceará. I hold both the titles of National Master and FIDE Candidate Master despite being a self-taught player. Although it’s only a hobby for me, chess changed my life forever, it gave me many trips and friends. Also, Chessable officially sponsored me a few times, it’s easy to find the whole story out there! Oh, and I once beat GM Nihal Sarin as Black, it’s my most notable upset so far.
Hi chess enthusiasts! I am IM, FIDE ELO 2405. I have been teaching chess (both individuals and teams) for over 30 years. Besides teaching chess I also write CDs and articles for chess magazines (CD Caro-Kann B13-B14 published by Chessbase; Encyclopedia of Pawn endings and Encyclopedia of Rook endings, both published by ChessInformant). Some of my students have got FIDE titles: GM, IM, FM and many of them win tournaments, prizes... In lessons, I place the main stress on student's INDEPENDENT work. This is because one can improve in chess only by permanent independent thinking. The main goal that I set in training is that my student work on chess for their own PLEASURE. This is the best way of improving and it gives the best practical results. The main method of training is an INDIVIDUAL...

My name is Nikola Nestorović (1989), a Chess Grandmaster and Fide Coach from Belgrade (Serbia), and I have played chess for over 20 years. Photo: Chess Bundesliga, where I played for the chess team from Augsburg. During that time, I accomplished most of my playing career goals. The most important fact is that I became a Grandmaster at the end of 2015 and officially became FIDE Chess Trainer in 2018 with the best Fide rating of 2517. As I was growing up, I realized that I enjoyed teaching, so I decided that I was going to pursue that kind of profession. Photo from Championship of Serbia (2023.), where I was a Chess Coach during the tournament to the GM Aleksandar Indjic, 2595 who won this tournament. My students have different levels of strength, from beginners to Grandmasters - but I...
