My Chess Books Vol - 6: Modern Chess Strategy (Abridged) by Ludek Pachman

A used copy if this book cost me $10.00. It takes a direct approach in explaining the chess strategies in number of fascinating examples. Pachman presents the English speaking world with the theory and practice of chess with a flavour of the 1960's Eastern Block Style chess, but does not lose the reader in the dogma as some of the Soviet era chess books do, perhaps that is thanks to the translation and abridgement effort by Alan Russell. This book covers major ideas from the pawn strategies to the wing play by major pieces. I highly recommend this book.
