Chess960 Miniatures

This time I present two Chess960 games because one of them is only 2 moves long! The first game is 14 moves and ends with a nice mating tactic. During the game, I could not convince myself to play the stunning 12. Ba6! But in analysis, it appears to be winning quite nicely. The line I played was more straightforward and also provides a clear advantage.

The second game is only two moves as black misses a weak spot in the opening setup.

@Hallo1 - yes, you can castle in Chess960.  Same rules apply i.e. no intervening peices and king cannot pass through check.  The king and the rook end up in the same spot as a normal game of chess when you castle king/queen side, although king and queen may not be on their usual respective sides in 960 variation.

    Nice article and 960 games!!
Why can't just Chess.com create a live chess 960, anyway?

I really enjoy this blog.  It would be nice to see GM's acquire a small annotated database of 960 games.

I've always wondered about doing something in between though.  Like leave the King and Queen in the center and leave one of each minor piece on the King side and Queen side.  If you made each side mirror eachother it would be 6 positions, it could be called Chess 1.6.  Or if the King and Queen side didn't have to reflect each other it allows for 36 positions, and could be called Chess 360.  I just think that making changes like that would allow for a massive increase in new positions while retaining some familiarity.

I would love to play chess960 live, but I hate correspondence. Please, chess.com, please.

Also, great games and great annotations.

Thank you for your tips and stuff on Game #1! It can really help. Btw, the four move rule: does this mean that the fastest checkmate possible, Fool's mate, will not count as rated? Finally, the four move rule applies in Live Chess also?
