In this fourth round, I was ready for a slugfest against White, but he played a quieter positional line of the Sicilian. Perhaps I was lulled into security by knowing I had achieved full equality out of the opening, and I made a slow positional move that was punished immediately, winning the exchange. I attempted to muddle the waters and came away a rook down. Obviously, I resigned.
Thoughts for next round:
I'm glad I attempted to fight and didn't shy away with the Caro-Kann. I also don't feel upset that I lost! I've been having a great tournament, and I learned that I will study the Sicilian much more after this to know how to navigate these weak sidelines. The last round is next week. I don't know if I'm in the running for prize money anymore, but having White the last game, I will attempt to complicate matters with my specialty!
