In honor of the Anand-Carlsen match, I spent today's rest day working on a draft of a song about Anand. I'd written some snippets of this before, but most of it today, so that means it's quite a rough draft. But, here it is!

I also wanted to mention that in working on it, I read up some more on Anand, and it was fun to do so: reliving some of his past tournament and match wins, seeing his progression as a player, etc.

yeah, it would guess he is not offended,knowing his nature. And he has lived long time in Spain and here get a short for your first name o your father's name is normal, starting by myself

Vishy doesn't irritate him. Everyone in the chess world calls him Vishy, and he's cool with it.

thx, LaskerFan, i knew about the naming system, but i did not realize that the common "Vishy" was upsetting to him. maybe i can remove it when i edit the song further.

thanks Chessplaya, for the feedback. i probably can't really change the "gangsterish" thing.

and as to the music, i don't have any right now. i'm just writing words, and hearing it in my head. but it would be nice to have music to go with it.

and i agree with you that in chess, in rap, in any discipline, you want to study the classics, and then the development on up after that. i've listened to a lot of rap, but had not heard this one, so thx for that as well.

A word on his name: Vishwanathan Anand.

Unlike our name (proper name first, then family name), his name is in reverse: father's-name first, then his-name! Vishwanathan is his father's name, Anand is his actual name.

Calling him "Vishy" irritates Anand as it is an abbreviation of his dad's name, not his.

Another thing, where is the music? A capella rap is notoriously difficult to perform. Very few top rappers can get away with it.

In chess, one is often advised to "study the classics", i.e. games played by Morphy, Capablanca, et al. Here is a rap classic illustrating good blend of music and lyrics. I hope it helps you improve.

Today is absolutely Vishy's last chance in the WCC match. I hope he wins with White today. Perhaps a shocker opening today? Veresov? Scotch Gambit?
