Hmm.. Yes transpo, I do agree with you that if Black knows his theory, White will be the one struggling. Ultimately it's my own personal opinion that if White plays perfectly, the game should be drawn. In any case, my stats are showing that I'm doing pretty well in the smith morra. However, if I do come across an opponent who is well prepared to handle the smith morra.. well, I do have another alternative mainline prepared, but I won't share it here.

Of course you realize that the Smith Morra Gambit either accepted with 3...dxc3 or declined with 3...Nf6 is essentially refuted.
