How to force a draw - when you have to

It is important to be able to force a draw in an inferior position. It is not like I wanted the draw - but as Black I need to prove equality, then push for a win. White looked to be building a strong kingside attack but with some careful maneuvering Black was able to fend it off - unfortunately the resulting position was drawish.
