An Important Change to our Blogs

Greetings, all!

Today, just a quick note to the bloggers among us (specifically those who are using Chess.com as a platform) with some news about a change we'll be making very soon.

For various technology reasons, we need to get rid of the subdomain (blog.chess.com) we've been using for this aspect of the site to date.

Here are examples of how blog URLs would look, before and after the change:

"Before" (current)

blog.chess.com/bloggername (the blog page for a specific member)

blog.chess.com/bloggername/blogtitle (a single post)

"After" (soon)

The impact to you and your gentle readers should be minimal, if any! Old-style links will automatically redirect to the relocated content. (However, if you've got any static links to your blog on an off-site Home page, etc., you may want to update them accordingly after the change is in effect!)

That's it! Please let us know if you see anything you think is not working correctly - and happy blogging!

Maybe whilst your at it you can fix the broken blog page as described here - http://www.chess.com/forum/view/help-support/blog-username-incorrect it's really annoying :0)

Things should be good now. I hope. :)

The change happened this morning, along with a lot of other things to make the site more secure, etc. It's still a bit of a work in progress - for instance, the redirects to your individual posts are mostly ok now, but we're still working on the links to the summary/main page for your blogs.

    We are on it!

Good to know guys thanks. I'll make the needed changes once they go through. Much appreciated. As Mr. Heisman said, once it goes through, if you can let us know it'll be great. I'm sure you will though.  Laughing

Thanks. If you have a way of letting us know when this actually happens, great. In any case, when I find out it has, I will go to my website and correct all the existing blog links.

What about using blogs to post games then copying the "share" link from the game to embed as HTML in a Google blog post (which is then put through feedburner and displayed on a website...)? ... over 200 games like this...
