does Caruana qualify for candidates' by rating yet?

I looked around a little online and couldn't figure it out. When is the next candidates' tournament, and what window of time are they looking at players' ratings in to pick the two top ratings aside from those who qualify in other ways?
In other words, Caruana is doing just fine at the Grand Prix so far, but does he actually need to come in first or second there (or in the World Cup thingy) to get into the candidates'? Or is that already locked up for him?
