I am currently studying this at the moment. It is a great help but I am looking for something that I can sit and read rather than a study plan. Thank you for your input though. It is greatly appreciated :)Anyone got any other ideas :)
Have you tried doing a google search for free chess books?
Ya tried that and got quite a few good results. Was just wondering if anyone knew of any good ones before I start downloading.

Probably a lot of others are good. You should check the reviews on Amazon before reading, but the three I mentioned are highly regarded.
Wow thanks :) This has helped me a lot :) I was actually thinking of getting Chess Fundamentals as I have heard good things about it. I have got a chess book written by Edward Lasker but it is quite hard to understand as moves are written in the old fashoned way and it is too difficult to work out long sequences of moves. Im sure that this book will help me improve my rating. Thank you again Chicken_Monster.

You can get Lasker's Manual of Chess (a revised version) if you want to buy it from Amazon. It is a classic, and you can get it in the "new" notation (algebraic figurine notation). I own a paperback of it.

I have been looking for a good chess book to study but I dont really have much money to spend on one so I was wondering if anyone knew of any that I could get online for free. I would prefer a general chess book rather than one specifically aimed at openings/middlegame/endgame etc. But any and all would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully a book that is aimed more towards the beginner than intermediate/advanced player but again any book that you know of would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
