I wanted to ask the long-term owners of the DGT boards how is the condition of those after 2-5 years? How are the veneered panels holding up?

haris_g

There is one for sale if anyone is interested.

I have one that's several years old (6-7 years); it is holding up very well.  For the first couple of years, I took it outside the house often.

hi please help with advice. I purchased DGT chess board back in 2008. It came with HIROSI USB cable to connect the board to computer. Unfortunately I misplaced and when I contacted the DGT company they said the cable is no longer in use presently using C cables. Anyone might suggest how to get replacement or same feature cable?

Is this the type cable?

Or this one.

Touch wood.... or veneer/plastic. hahah . Mine has held up. tiny little bit or 'wear' on the corners. Nothing wrong though. I chose the plastic board because i didn't know if I'd like the dgt products, but im sold now. Next time i think i'll do wood.

DGT E boards are for tournaments which have bigger sponsors and are giving away cash awards as huge sums of money Like ( From India 1,00,000 Rupees ) or more like 10,000$ So Stronger Players will definitely come like GM & WGM or WIM or IM they are specialized in the game and want better boards and pieces for the quality they give They don't deserve to play in normal plastic boards like normal amateur chess players so this is where the DGT E boards come into play they have wooden quality boards with smooth moving pieces which are easier to play and are more deserving than the plastic boards. For Example, 44th Chess Olympiad all the boards were in DGT because all the players are representing their nation and are really strong players and also DGT E Boards are also used for commentating as they relay the moves in a certain website. This helps the commentators job easier in finding what moves the God Level Players have played
