Making Chess Videos

I am a chess coach now and I thought it would be helpful to my students if I were to make videos like the ones that are on YouTube, but maybe more specific to their needs.  I was wondering what the best way to go about this would be.  I am thinking about downloading QuickTime onto my PC so that I can do on-screen recording.  Is this a good idea or can anyone suggest a better application for this?

Also I was wondering where the YouTube chess video creators get their full screen chess boards from.  What software or websites do they use for such chess boards?

Thanks!

I like to upload blitz games to my Youtube channel, and a software called OBS works great for me. The settings need to be fine tuned to your computer's needs, but there are many tutorials available for that.

If you don't mind a slight quality drop, Hypercam is also great and much easier to use.

I'll check that out, thanks!

Maybe email Kevin on thechesswebsite.com?  I emailed him a while ago but I don't remember which he uses.... sorry!  It's nice to be able to show the arrows, etc.

Oh yeah that's helpful too.  I'd also like one that allows you to put words on the screen at certain points.

where  do you coach?

Once it's on youtube, you can add captions at different spots, and you can determine at what time, and how long the captions appear.

That is done with editing after you've already recorded everything.
You just basically have to use a simple screen capturing program as every other, for example let's players.
