1. e4 or 1. d4

Both 1. e4 and 1. d4 start out with zero. Say which one is your favorite and one point will be added to it. By September the winner will be announced.

I never, ever open 1. d4, and when someone plays it against me (OTB) I think I might actually physically cringe. (I've never asked my opponents if this is true, strangely enough.)

With that in mind, I simply have to vote for e4.

I suppose my beloved 1. c4 is not an option either, so I will vote for 1. d4. I especially like playing the White side of the King's Indian, Four Pawns Attack.

But... I suppose I would prefer 1. d4 but it is up to you XD

E4 definately

I always liked the direct approach better, go for the K-side !
Q-side attack somehow feels like a detour.
