Tournament Openings?

What openings do you (the people reading this) like to play in tournament games? Yesterday I used the Scandinavian Defense in my games as black, since I'm not a huge fan of the Sicilian or 1... e5, and I like avoiding lots of theory. As white, I opened one with a Ruy Lopez and the other with the Four Knights Defense (well, technically, black brings out the fourth knight, but I like it as white).

Should I study any specific openings before my second tournament begins in a half of a month? I know I will divert most of my attention to tactics, but I'd like to be prepared for almost any opening my opponents throw at me

The openings I know right now:

Sicilian Defense, Caro-Kann, Queen's Gambit, King's Gambit, Scandinavian Defense, English Opening, Ruy Lopez, KID, 4 Knights.

The openings I feel comfortable playing as and against:

Queen/King's Gambit, Scandinavian, Ruy Lopez, 4 Knights.

I probably left one or two openings out; but these are the main ones I remember. I know I should study the Sicilian and Caro-Kann for sure; what others should I learn?

Thanks!

I forgot to mention I know the Scotch Game fairly well, also.

Can anyone guide me in the right direction, please?

A faultless piece of advice you have insight. 'Chess is a rich and complex game' never a truer word said but it has a haunting beauty and a magnetic drawing power.

Extremely well said estragon. Don't waste your time on theory, develop according to general opening principles, that will be enough for a very long time.

Thanks a bunch, Estragon! I probably don't need all the theory at my level. I will try to focus 90% of my time on tactics. Where is a good place to learn pawn structures? Also, a place to learn/practice basic endings would be nice. Thanks again!

Estragon; it is funny you mention pawn structure because it seems i am always losing a pawn against you master types and my position always seems to rapidly  deteriate from there . I know it is not just the loss of the pawn but the conditions the pawn was lost under, and  not wanting to go to endgame a pawn down works to their favor. They win a pawn and then just grind you down it seems.

I am currently learning the sicilian hyper-accelerated dragon.

Since your playing against Kids (like me) I guess when you play 1.e4 mostly their response is e5 so...you could plan King's Gambit (I always throw them off with that one). When you're black (mostly) the opponent play King's Pawn 1.e4 my response is c5 since a lot of people don't know Sicilian defense...or Caro-kann defense 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5. I was thrown off with that one since I didn't know Caro-kann I thought c6 was a bad move...so I'd be guessing loads of people don't know Caro-kann...so that is my second choice for black.

I'm learning King's Gambit and starting to see the potential of an open file for the rook and rapid development also

Look at this game for King's Gambit....unbelievable a 1978 rating he seems pretty stupid...luckily it was an unrated match
