I KNOW THE BASIC OF OPENINGS!!!!!!!!!
What are the best openings?

Yes. Answer 1.e4 with 1...e5 and answer 1.d4 with 1...d5. Tty to develop your pieces and push to make sure you get your share of the center. Try to get your pieces active and don't worry too much about pawn weaknesses.
Disregard this nonsense.
I suggest playing something with a violent name: the Sicilian Kalashnikov or Sniper as black. If they don't work for you it's simply because they don't suit your aggressive style. In that case, simply switch openings until you find the one that always leads to you winnning.

I suggest you play something with a funny name:The Orangutan or Hillbilly attack at white. If they don't work for you it's simply because they don't suit your humourous style. In that case, simply switch openings until you find the one that always leads to you winning.
Ofcourse for White, opening with d4 ( Queens Pawn opening ) is always better. It generally opens with Slav, Semi Slav. Catalan etc with very few variations compaired to King's pawn opening.
As a Black One depends on the opponent what opening he begins with, whether kings pawn or Queen's Pawn or other.
Thanks
In his book 'The Slav' GM Mathew Sadler enumerated three key elements in successful opening play.
1. Knowing the aims of the opening
2. Knowing the value of move order
3. Understanding typical positions.

There are no best openings like Sharrocks said, so your losing time if you're searching for them. At your level, you should forget about opening theory.
You should follow the basic principles to get a nice position from the begining. The classic defences are the best for beginners( queen's gambit declined: 1.d4 d5, open games:1.e4 e5), and you should play with white 1.e4.
As White play 1e4 ... and the Ruy Lopez
As Black play 1e4 e6 French Defense or
1d4 d5 Queen's Gambit Declined
Both are very solid. Also learn the reasons behind the moves rather than rote memorization.

In all seriousness... this is good advice.

Well here is the full story!
e4 vs d4. e4 starts off tactical and and d4 starts off positional, now they can change as the game progress or remain the same depending on the flow of the game.

When i came to Chess.com i started anwsering e4 with c5 more and more and more. I wish somebody told me to do it a long time ago as it would have saved me some serious suffering.
If you... when you become stronger you will face stronger players and they will play c5 against 1 e4. And for good reason to avoid all most of those nasty e4 openings with there variations.

Preferably the experience you gain in your chosen openings satisfy two conditions. One, they can last you a lifetime (i.e. the experiance you're gaining is useful) and two, you have the opportunity to make use of the strategic/middlegame knowledge you gain as you grow in chess. So openings like the Ruy or queen's gambit declined are preferable to openings like theoretical lines in Sicilians and the King's Indian defense.
The second condition may sound odd. But some openings lead to middlegames where standard concepts like piece activity, king safety, and pawn structure are all turned upside down and when you try to analyze your games you're being introduced to the exceptions before you learn the rules and the game in general will make even less sense heh.
Anyway, this is just my opinion. To make it short and sweet just read paulgottlieb or estragon's posts.

Another one and type the same things.
As i know know it very well.
It is about the board and understanding the situation.
Then exploit it to your advantage.
if they dont know how to play it there screwed
Sounds like noob country anthem to me.
As has been said, play 1. e4 e5. Italian Game would be my recommendation from there. Other openings are just as good, but why smother yourself in the bowels of the Sicilian when you can play something with straightforward development that will lead to an instructive, tactical middle game?
Hi, I'm not very good at openings, so if anyone can suggest a good opening for white and a good defence for black?
