What Oppening is Most Effective?

Hey I don't know what chess oppening to use and it would be great if you showed me some of yours that are efective.

Do you like tactical or positional games? Games where there could be tactics at any moment, or games where the position is solid for both sides and you have to create strategic plans? Tell us what kind of positions you're comfortable with.

play 1e4. this makes it possible that the game might become a ruy lopez which even a crowd of retards have been able to deduce is better than all other options. if its singular superiority is obvious to even retards then it must be amazingly good.

Wow, such negatively on the start.

Well I think you can play pretty much anything as long as you have an idea of what you're goals are. But for me, I really like the Ruy Lopez as White. It allows you to do all of the things that are generally good ideas in the opening: place a pawn in the center, develop your kingside knight to f3, develop your bishops and castle early. In the main line you'll almost always get pawns on d4 and e4. Just seems very logical and the best opportunity for a long term advantage.

As Black I answer 1.e4 e5 and 1.d4 d5. If it's a Queen's Gambit I play the traditional declined lines with ...e6, ...Nf6 and ...Be7.

But I don't know. It's cliche but it's so true when people advise to work on tactics and endgames first and foremost. They've helped me the most in my games.

I don't think you're supposed to call retarded people retards any more. I think they're "mongoloids".

5OS, when the last time you got some sleep ?

Jace, it's really a matter of personal preference - don't worry too much about openings at your level, just try to develop your pieces toward the center of the board and make logical moves.  I'd personally recommend playing simple openings that involve quick development and control of the center instead of hypermodern or other complicated systems.  Here's an example of a reasonable way to play:

the colonial europeans felt the mongoloids were somewhat less retarded than the negros. their cranial capacity was larger on average...but of course not equal to the europeans.

That's fascinating! Did you learn this at the last Klan meeting?

The most effective opening is the one that you are most comfortable with. At your level, openings should not be your focus. When you begin a chess game, stake a claim to the center, mobilize your pieces, reduce the vulnerability of your king. Strengthening your tactical vision will guide you through the most common opening pitfalls.

Even so, it will not hurt you to learn open games that proceed from the Italian and Spanish openings. The characters of these two differ markedly. I recommend that beginners become comfortable with the Italian and then, when they can understand why masters prefer the Spanish, make the switch. As Black, if your opponent advances a Center pawn two squares, advance your corresponding pawn two squares.

The eugenics that FoS describes does indeed have its roots in colonialism. Although these comments contribute nothing of value to this thread, his little historical snippets are not inaccurate.

Seriously?? He's agreeing with you.

I'm a "retard" because I demonstrated his errors on a couple of points in another thread, and showed that I do not believe that he's more knowledgeable about chess than titled players.

Reds_Espeon

Depends on what opening you are most comfortable with. Generally e4 leads to more open, tactical games while d4 leads to more closed, positional games. I suppose you could look at stats to see which one wins the most but if you personally aren't comfortable with that specific opening stats probably won't mean that much.

To check if you're retarded, take this test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc86ZXFsriM

Uh oh, look out, here comes the ongoing fight into another thread!

Find a day where you have the entire day to kill, and go thru the thread under Openings "why is ruy lopez considered the strongest" and you will get a good idea of how mentally insane and socially ignorant FoS really is!

SonOfGaul

I have VERY little experience playing as black against d4 so I'll need to find something. Any suggestions?
