heres a good game with the wing gamit
When I'm in the mood for 1.e4 as white I'll play it sometimes with good results. Although there's no forced loss for white it does equalize easily for black after 1.e4,c5 2.b4,cxb4 3.a3,d5 and the active queen can be trouble for white if he's not careful. the b-pawn also prevents Nc3. The game can go either way from here but black already achieved equality, but he inevitably would with best play in mainstream openings anyway.
true the sicilian is hard to gain an advantage if black is accurate and the wing gambit increases the room for error so at amatuer level it should have good results, ive ussually win when i play it so its become addicting and i fell off the open sicilian sine it just got repetitive
haven't analyzed it deeply and don't play the french myself(so there is no bias). But, it seems like after accepting and then playing d5 black has a very good game
Nice game, Chiseled. I think this is a transposition of the Milner-Barry gambit in the French. I posted a game with this line, and a little info on Philip Stuart Milner-Barry, a little while ago:
Philip Stuart Milner-Barrythanks a lot man
One of the absolute worst anti-sicilians out there. Use at your own risk.
i wouldnt disagree with u, this is good for an opponent whos unprepared and i doubt sicilian players spend a lot of time studying the wing gambit... its bad at a level of play beyond mine id say but ive had fun with it, i shouldnt get too comfortable playing it though... but fischer played it once so oh well
Out of all the ways to get out of the book this is probably the worst try. There are dozens of moves that don't drop a pawn with no compensation you could play instead of this. c3, f4, g3, b3, h4 just take your pick. They all make more sense than this gambit.

They only have to know up to 3. ...d5 and black's already better. Hardly deep opening theory...
The Morra gambit is reasonably sound (and very very dangerous for the unprepared). But the Wing Gambit is just simply terrible.

It's sound but I think playing white is really difficult because if the pieces start coming off without at least winning your pawn back it's game over. So all black has to do is survive while remaining a bit active and he wins. That's the reason I stopped playing the SM even though it is an interesting opening.
Beginners who say openings are bad without understanding them amuse me. Check out my highest rated win in Online Chess against a 2500+ player with the Wing Gambit.
Even with Bronstein this opening is not easy.
Players who manages with in live will be good in any open games, wing gambit or not.

totally agree with u, like many players saying the kings gambit is bad and dont know why its bad... or any opening but especially gambit openings... id rather learn myself why something is bad... i will admit the latvian gambit is terrible and i used to play it, i can say whys it bad not than id be able to beat houdini if houdini played it anyways
the wing gambit can expose a sicilian player who needs his book... ive had great results. does anyone else use this opening?
